Ronja Burve is a Latvian singer, currently based in Mumbai, India. Her musical identity can be distinguished by creativity, emotionally poignant performance, particular minimalistic and experimental style, current lyrics and an honest human message.

 

Ronja began her musical path in Riga Dome Choir School in Latvia where she was given the opportunity and tools to develop as an artist on a professional level since young age.

 

At that time she discovered her interest in contemporary and conceptual music as well as found inspiration in literature, film and theater that brought her to her own artistic expression that focuses on what is behind the apparent. Therefore instrumental themes and vocal improvisation are important components of her music, too.

 

After graduating from the Jazz Department in 2013, she moved to The Netherlands to pursue a Bachelor's degree at The Royal Conservatory of The Hague and at the same time started working on her own projects and compositions.

 

Ronja has performed on various scenes in The Netherlands, Germany, Latvia and Cyprus both as a leader and guest artist, including festivals like "Saulkrasti Jazz" in Latvia and "Paradise Jazz" in Cyprus.

 

One of Ronja's main projects at the moment is a voice-piano duo "Tree of Dawn" that she created together with a pianist Christos Yerolatsitis in the summer of 2015. The duo released their debut album in November 2016.
